Comparisons: (not) as … as, the same as, different from

(So sánh: (not) as … as, the same as, different from)

1. (not) as … as

Cấu trúc: 

Ví dụ:

- He is as tall as his father.

- Jane’s sister learns as well as her.

- This new smartphone is not as expensive as my old one.

Cách dùng: 

Đây là cấu trúc so sánh ngang bằng, dùng để so sánh sự tương đồng (as...as) hoặc không tương đồng (not as...as) giữa 2 hay nhiều người/vật.

Lưu ý: 

Trong câu phủ định, chúng ta có thể dùng not so … as hoặc not as … as.

She isn’t as tall as me. = She isn’t so tall as me.  ]{{Cô ấy không cao bằng tôi.}}

2. the same as

Cấu trúc: 

Ví dụ:

- John is the same height as his father.

- Your smartphone is the same as mine.

- She is not the same as she was 5 years ago.

Cách dùng: 

the same có nghĩa là “giống nhau”. Đây là cấu trúc so sánh ngang bằng, dùng để so sánh sự giống nhau giữa 2 hay nhiều người/vật.

3. different from

Cấu trúc: 

Ví dụ:

- She is very different from her sister.

- His new hairstyle doesn’t look much different from his old one.

Cách dùng: 

different có nghĩa là “khác, khác biệt”. Cấu trúc này được dùng để diễn đạt sự khác nhau giữa 2 hay nhiều người/vật.
